There were 18 bidders registered in the battle to win the stunning, custom four-bedroom, two storey Hamptons-inspired home, which was auctioned live onsite at The Surrounds master-planned community at Helensvale.

A Coomera couple, Philip and Hayley Lakic, were in tears of happiness following the final bid, with just $1,000 giving them the lead, saying it was the perfect location for them as they start their family.

Mater Foundation Chief Executive Officer Nigel Harris said it was an overwhelming result.

“With 18 registered bidders prior to auction we were thrilled that there was so much interest in the home and that competitive bidding pushed the price to $986,000.

“It was also great to see more than 800 people come out to experience the excitement of the auction and witness the House for Life being sold for just under $1 million.

“The result means so much as these funds will go to supporting the 2,000 seriously ill and premature babies who are cared for at Mater’s Neonatal Critical Care Unit each year, as well as to fund important research projects to improve outcomes for mothers and babies.”

The crowd gathered in Laurel Drive to watch the auction and be part of the action-packed free family fun day, and the auction result means Plantation Homes have now donated eight houses and nearly $3.5 million to Mater Little Miracles.

Amanda Reilly, Plantation Homes Marketing Manager, said she had goose bumps watching the auction.

“We are so proud of this initiative because at the end of the day, we know that we have the opportunity to make a huge difference to the lives of Queensland’s tiniest patients and that means so much to all involved.  It is such an amazing moment when the hammer goes down and you welcome a family into their dream home. We truly thank each and every supplier, tradie and partner for bringing their skills, assets and passion to this project. We are incredibly proud to have so many likeminded individuals and business’ alongside us on this project who share in our commitment to giving back to the community; we simply could not achieved this amazing result alone”

Villawood Properties State Manager – Development Michael Williams, added: “It was wonderful to see the community spirit in action at The Surrounds yesterday, and we are so excited to welcome another family to the area. Everyone did such a fantastic job on this project, it’s been joyful to see the dream delivered and we’re so proud to have been part of it all,” he said.

LJ Hooker Helensvale | Pacific Pines agents Brad Clarke and Siarne Loeve managed the sales campaign, donating their time and commission to the cause alongside other home partners.

“We we’re thrilled with the interest in the home and to help raise close to a million dollars for such an important Queensland health service was a magical feeling. It was incredible to be a part of,” Mr Clarke said.
